The Branford Buccaneers came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 25-6 victory over Hamilton County. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Branford also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Branford can attribute much of their success to Thomas Sikes, who threw for 123 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Austin Malaguti, who gained 115 total yards and a touchdown.
Branford's win was their fourth straight on the road , which pushed their record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-6 Hollis Christian Academy and 3-6 Hamilton County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.9% over those games). As for Hamilton County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Branford will head out on the road to face off against Lafayette at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
