Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for the Helena Huskies, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 45-26 bruising from the Panthers on Friday. Helena's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it eight in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Helena lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mallory Rhodes. Despite the final result, she scored five points along with five rebounds. Destiny Brashears was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Helena struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pelham racked up eight assists.
Leading Pelham to victory were Karma Wynn and Tee King. Wynn scored 13 points along with eight steals, while King scored 19 points along with three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which King has scored at least a third of Pelham's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Hollingsworth, who scored five points.
Helena has not been sharp recently as the team's lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-20 record this season. As for Pelham, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 18-10 record this season.
Helena does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Pelham also has no future games currently scheduled.
