Basketball Recap: Jaylin Neder's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Land O' Lakes over Wesley Chapel

If Land O' Lakes was riding high fresh off their 57-27 takedown of Patel two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Land O' Lakes Gators fell 60-52 to the Wesley Chapel Wildcats on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 52nd).

Several Gators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaylin Neder, who went 8 of 17 en route to 22 points along with five boards and five steals. Neder's evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jessi Saffold, who almost dropped a double-double on nine boards and ten steals.

Wesley Chapel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sanai Forrester-Jhagroo led the charge by going 5 of 9 on her way to 18 points and four steals. Forrester-Jhagroo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Eliana Diaz was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 10 points along with six boards and six steals.

Land O' Lakes now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Wesley Chapel, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Land O' Lakes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Carrollwood Day on the 6th. As for Wesley Chapel, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-32 win against Academy of the Holy Names on the 5th.
