The McIntosh Chiefs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They snuck past Drew with a 52-47 victory. Given McIntosh's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the are ranked 491st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading McIntosh to victory were Adan Dollens and Jake Heaton. Dollens scored 19 points along with three steals and two blocks, while Heaton scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Heaton continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Andrew Eisele was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and five assists.
McIntosh has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. As for Drew, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-17.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McIntosh won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Jaguar at 4:30 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Drew, they will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harris County is on a seven-game streak of home losses, the a 22-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change.
