Baseball Recap: Blue River Valley Wins Going Away Against Tri

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Eastern, Blue River Valley was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 17-8 margin over the Tri Titans. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won eight in a row.

EVAN ZENTZ made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Blue River Valley got a massive performance out of KYLER KECK, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. KECK has become a key player for the Vikings: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of GABE BILBY, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Blue River Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Blue River Valley's record now sits at 6-4. As for Tri, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blue River Valley will square off against Cowan at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blackhawks have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Tri, they will face off against Waldron at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Mohawks have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
