The Taconic Thunder will take on the Agawam Brownies at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Taconic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Taconic came up short against Mount Greylock Regional and fell 9-6. The Thunder have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kylie Duhamel and Abby Soto stepped up to the plate in a big way. Duhamel went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Soto went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Duhamel continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Toni Ahoussi, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Agawam). They blew past Pittsfield 18-6 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Brownies in their matchups with the Generals: they've now won four in a row.
Payton Malanson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexina Lentes, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Agawam always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pittsfield only posted an OBP of .440.
Taconic's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Agawam, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
Taconic's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Thunder have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Agawam, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Taconic continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Taconic's way against Agawam when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Taconic made off with a 10-3 victory. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Brownies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
