The Marionville Comets will head out on the road to square off against the Ash Grove Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Marionville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday.
After a string of three wins, Marionville's good fortune finally ran out. They fell 48-39 to Diamond. Marionville has not had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Marionville had strong showings from Dally Pomeroy, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Lucy Newberry, who scored 22 points along with three steals. Newberry has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played.
Meanwhile, Ash Grove can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Greenwood as Ash Grove made off with a 53-32 victory. The win was just what Ash Grove needed coming off of a 61-37 loss in their prior matchup.
Marionville's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5. As for Ash Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.
Marionville beat the Pirates 43-35 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marionville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
