Winston Academy won the last time they faced Carroll Academy and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Rebels. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Reed Yates made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayson McMillin, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Woodward, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Winston Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Carroll Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
