The Jasper Bulldogs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight loss. They were dealt a 130-66 defeat at the hands of Silsbee. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Jasper in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost six in a row.
Silsbee's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jared Harris, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals. Harris is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 16 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Payton Jones, who went 8 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 3 assists.
Jasper has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Silsbee, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-9.
Jasper will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Little Cypress-Mauriceville is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Silsbee, they will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Orange-Stark will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 484th, while the Tigers are ranked 132nd).
