There's no place like home for the Aiken Falcons, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on Withrow with a sharp 57-35 win on Friday. Given Aiken's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Withrow is ranked 313th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Aiken to victory, but perhaps none more so than James Burnett, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Antonio Hutcherson jr was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five steals.
Withrow's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Johnson, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Jordan, who scored 11 points.
Withrow struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Aiken racked up 12 assists.
Aiken is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Withrow, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
Aiken will head out on the road to face off against Woodward at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Aiken knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Woodward likes a good challenge. As for Withrow, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Meadowdale at 7:30 p.m. Meadowdale has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 688 points over their last 11 games.
