Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Asheville Christian Academy). They were the clear victor by a 74-49 margin over the Hendersonville Bearcats on Saturday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Bearcats are ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Martiste Mills and Gray Hendricks certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Mills posted 19 points and three steals, while Hendricks earned nine points along with five rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, Mills is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Albany, who put up five points.

The victory made it two in a row for Asheville Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Hendersonville, they moved to 5-1 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Asheville Christian Academy will venture away from home to face off against Gaston Day at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hendersonville, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Hendersonville Bearcats challenge the Asheville Cougars at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hendersonville is facing Asheville at the right time seeing as Asheville is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
