The Elkhorn North Wolves will challenge the Millard North Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkhorn North will be strutting in after a win while Millard North will be coming in after a defeat.
If Elkhorn North beats Millard North with three runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Wolves didn't even let Bennington on the board on Monday, marking the Wolves' second-straight 3-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Badgers: they've now won three in a row.
Sam Huff tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Jake Janssen was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Elkhorn North's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Cam Schmeeckle also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Elkhorn North hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Millard North faced Papillion-LaVista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Mustangs took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monarchs. The match marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Ripken Fleck was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
Elkhorn North pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Millard North, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.
Both Elkhorn North and Millard North just can't seem to miss. The Wolves have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Millard North struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Elkhorn North was able to grind out a solid win over Millard North in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 7-3. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
