Softball Recap: Ichabod Crane Finds Home Field Redemption Against Schalmont

There's no place like home for Ichabod Crane, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Schalmont Sabres on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Riders also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Charlotte Pelizza was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Abbey Milazzo, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Ichabod Crane kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Ichabod Crane is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Schalmont, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 12-3 record.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Ichabod Crane will challenge rival La Salle Institute at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Schalmont is set to square off against their familiar foe Albany Academy for Girls at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
