The Pembroke Spartans will face off against the Kennett Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games Pembroke has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Wednesday, Pembroke didn't have quite enough to beat Milford and fell 7-6.
Meanwhile, Kennett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Pembroke. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since April 9, 2025.
Guillermo Chavarria Burns put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Blake Royer and Cooper Coleman stepped up to the plate in a big way. Royer went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Coleman went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Robertson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Pembroke's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Kennett, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Pembroke came out on top in a nail-biter against Kennett when the teams last played on Tuesday, sneaking past 9-7. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
