The Rockhurst Hawklets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 24 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 71-37 win over Belton on the road. That 71-37 margin sets a new team best for Rockhurst this season.
Andrew Sprague was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Maxwell Moylan, who scored 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Belton lost on Wednesday, one person who can't be blamed is Calvin Lacey. Despite the final result, he scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lacey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kordell Williams, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Rockhurst's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Belton, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Rockhurst will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Blue Springs at 9:00 p.m. on December 29th. Blue Springs will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 346th, while Rockhurst is ranked 106th). Belton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Park Hill at 9:00 a.m. on December 28th.
