Basketball Recap: Braden River's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Braden River was the 77-67 winner over Lakewood Ranch when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Braden River Pirates fell 78-67 to the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly 11 points.

Despite the loss, Braden River saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anquan Polynice went 10 of 18 en route to 26 points and seven rebounds. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for Polynice. Another player making a difference was Deven Womack, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Braden River smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Braden River's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2. As for Lakewood Ranch, with the win, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-6.

Braden River wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 58-49 loss against Manatee on the 12th. As for Lakewood Ranch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-40 defeat against Cardinal Mooney on the 11th.
