Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics has gone a perfect 6-0 against St. John recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Greyson Stampley, who went 3-for-4 with one double. That double was Stampley's first of the season.
Meanwhile, St. John's entered their tilt with Palmetto Christian Academy last Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Palmetto Christian Academy. The Islanders' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.
Antonio Hernandez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Oliver Jayne was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Chris Cruz was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one double.
St. John's hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive contests.
St. John's record now sits at 6-4. As for Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Monday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .449. However, it's not like St. John's struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics was able to grind out a solid victory over St. John's in their previous matchup back in March, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
