Vallivue is 0-10 against Bishop Kelly since April of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Falcons will square off against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Vallivue made easy work of Burley and carried off a 16-6 victory.
The team relied heavily on Journey Engle, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 matchups. Another player making a difference was Addyson Aguila, who scored three runs while going 3-for-3.
Vallivue kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 14 hits in three consecutive games.
Bishop Kelly's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Middleton on Thursday. The Knights never let Columbia get on the board and left with an 18-0 win. The contest marked the Knights' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Allie Warren made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Jaynie Burke was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Gracie Cammann also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Vallivue's record now sits at 9-4. As for Bishop Kelly, their record is now 10-2.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Vallivue hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .446. However, it's not like Bishop Kelly struggles in that department as they've averaged .431. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Vallivue suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Bishop Kelly in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
