The Chariho Chargers will take on the Scituate Spartans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chariho has four straight victories, Scituate has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Chariho is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Prout, who was ranked eighth at the time (Chariho was ranked third). The Chargers never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 12-0 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won six games by six runs or more so far this season.

Adriana Jeannenot made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Erin O'Leary was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddie Dorgan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one triple.
Chariho always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .565. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prout only posted an OBP of .071.
Meanwhile, Scituate came up short against East Greenwich on Thursday and fell 7-4.
Scituate saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabella Defusco, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Victoria Geisser was another, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Chariho's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Scituate, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Scituate's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Chariho has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Scituate, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Chariho keep running through batters, or will the Spartans buck the trend?
Everything went Chariho's way against Scituate in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Chariho made off with an 11-2 victory. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
