Bartlett is 1-8 against Grafton since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Indians will challenge the Gators at 11:00 a.m. Bartlett is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Bartlett barely beat Quaboag Regional the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 9-2 victory on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Indians have posted against the Cougars since May 14, 2018.
The team relied heavily on Luigi Villegas, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Adam Urato also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bartlett kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Grafton made sure to put some runs up on the board against Tantasqua Regional on Monday. The Gators' pitcher stepped up to hand the Warriors a 12-0 shutout. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Gators' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Not much got past James Tindall, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Tantasqua Regional off the board.
On the hitting side, Finn Gilmore was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Ryan Chagnon was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
The victory made it two in a row for Bartlett and bumps their season record up to 4-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Grafton, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.
Both Bartlett and Grafton just can't seem to miss. The Indians have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Grafton struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
