The Monta Vista Matadors scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They blew past Live Oak, posting a 76-45 victory on the road. Given Monta Vista's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while Live Oak is ranked 1146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Live Oak's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devon Deharo, who scored nine points along with five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Deharo has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lukas Marcheschi, who scored eight points.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Monta Vista, bringing their record for this year to 4-1. As for Live Oak, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Monta Vista will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Lincoln at 8:00 p.m. on December 8th. Live Oak won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Gilroy at 5:00 p.m. on December 8th. Gilroy is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
