Baseball Recap: Springport Has No Trouble Against Reading

Springport never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Reading Rangers with a sharp 11-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now won five in a row.

Not much got past Drew Sanford, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Reading off the board.

At the plate, Drew Kregel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Marshall Shoemaker, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Springport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Springport pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Reading, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springport will welcome Addison at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Reading, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Maple Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
