Basketball Recap: Live Oak Classical's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Live Oak Classical unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a blow against the First Baptist Saints, falling 59-30. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 54-42 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Live Oak Classical saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ashlyn Helton posted seven points along with ten boards and four steals. Those ten boards gave Helton a new career-high.

First Baptist had a senior duo take command as Georgia Alford dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards and Meredith Quinn dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Alford's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Bella Jacobo-Redding was another key player, putting up nine points along with five boards and four steals.

Live Oak Classical's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for First Baptist, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-3.

Live Oak Classical and First Baptist's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Live Oak Classical and Providence Prep (who has only given up 29.7 points per game) will meet at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, First Baptist and Fellowship Academy (who has only given up 27.8 points per game) will meet at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
