Maple Mountain is 0-6 against Timpview since December of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Golden Eagles will head out to square off against the Thunderbirds at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Tuesday, Maple Mountain needed a bit of extra time to put away Wasatch. They snuck past the Wasps with a 72-67 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Golden Eagles.

Nash Jackson and Maddux Duncan were among the main playmakers for Maple Mountain as the former went 5-for-10 en route to 20 points and seven rebounds and the latter shot 63% from the field on his way to 13 points. Those 13 points gave Duncan a new career-high. Nate Anderson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Timpview's strategy against Salem Hills on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds blew past the Skyhawks 73-50. The Thunderbirds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 23 points or more this season.
Maple Mountain better keep an eye on Dean Rueckert. He was instrumental in Timpview's win, shooting 58% from beyond the arc to rack up 31 points and seven boards. The matchup was Rueckert's ninth in a row with at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Cleveland, who posted nine points.
Timpview was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Salem Hills only racked up five.
Maple Mountain's record now sits at 12-4. As for Timpview, their record is now 15-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Maple Mountain has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Timpview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 33.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Maple Mountain came up short against Timpview when the teams last played back in February of 2025, falling 64-60. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
