North Fort Myers fought the good fight in their extra-innings  matchup against Evangelical Christian  on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took  a  9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evangelical Christian Sentinels.
  Abigail Hynes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 3-for-4 with three  runs and a  triple. The team also got some help courtesy of  Azlynn Gomes, who  went 2-for-4 with a  triple and two  RBI.
 On Evangelical Christian's side,  Zoe Yzaguirre spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on ten hits and racked up 14 Ks. Yzaguirre has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in five consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  Payton Billie was  incredible,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 2-for-4.  Makenzie Thompson was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 3-for-5.
 North Fort Myers' loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Evangelical Christian, the  victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Fort Myers will  challenge LaBelle at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Evangelical Christian, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Moore Haven at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Evangelical Christian is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
