Softball Game Preview: Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers vs. Episcopal Maroon

The Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers will face off against the Episcopal Maroon at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Georgetown Day knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Episcopal likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Georgetown Day got the win against Episcopal by a conclusive 20-6. The Mighty Hoppers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by ten runs or more this season.

Natalie Ogden made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Isabella Yip and Lindsay Fuzesi did most of the damage at the plate: Yip went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Fuzesi went 2-for-5 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Yip a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tatum Mach, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Georgetown Day was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in ten consecutive games.

Georgetown Day pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Episcopal, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.
