The Sanford-Fritch Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Stratford Elks at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Sanford-Fritch has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while Stratford will arrive with eight straight wins.
Last Friday, Sanford-Fritch had to suffer through a rough 47-6 loss at the hands of Farwell. Sanford-Fritch was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-0.
Meanwhile, Stratford's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They came out on top against Panhandle by a score of 34-22.
Julio Valdez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 135 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, while also picking up 108 receiving yards and a touchdown. Valdez's longest rush was for an incredible 95 yards. Bryce Braden and his 101 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Stratford's victory.
Stratford's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Braden and his two sacks.
Sanford-Fritch's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.5 points per game. As for Stratford, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 7-0.
Sanford-Fritch was dealt a bruising 51-0 defeat at the hands of Stratford in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Sanford-Fritch avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
