After flying high against the Far Northeast W Warriors on Thursday, the Falcon Falcons came back down to earth. Falcon was dealt a 82-31 loss at the hands of Valor Christian on Friday. Falcon was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-15.
Falcon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyler Cox, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds. Cox scored a full 35.5% of Falcon's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Graham, who scored 12 points along with 4 blocks.
Among those leading the charge was Cole Scherer, who scored 21 points along with 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Valor Christian's points. Brady Wynja was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 7 rebounds.
Falcon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Valor Christian, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Falcon and Conifer will face off at 11:30 a.m. on December 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Conifer will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Falcon is ranked 67th). Valor Christian is on the road again on Saturday and play against Pueblo West at 10:00 a.m. on December 2nd. Hopefully Pueblo West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Friday.
