Last Thursday, things could have been worse for Timberlake Christian, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-42 loss to the Ospreys. Timberlake Christian has struggled against the Ospreys recently, as their match on Thursday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Roanoke Valley Christian put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 55-32 margin over Dayspring Christian Academy. Given Roanoke Valley Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Lions are ranked 331st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Roanoke Valley Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex Nelson, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Logan Gutierrez, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Timberlake Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Roanoke Valley Christian, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2.
Timberlake Christian ended up a good deal behind the EAGLES when the teams last played back in January of 2023, losing 51-33. Can Timberlake Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
