The Marion Giants will head out on the road to challenge the Peru Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marion has now lost 18 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since August 23.
On Tuesday, Marion didn't have quite enough to beat Anderson and fell 2-1.
The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Marion lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 28-26, 21-25, 15-12.
Meanwhile, Peru hadn't done well against Logansport recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Berries 3-2.
If you add up the scores from across all five sets (109-104) Peru actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 15-13.
Marion better focus on containing Lilly Steele and Jacey Boswell as the pair were huge in Peru's win. Steele had 18 digs and one assist, while Boswell had 17 kills, eight digs, and four aces. That's the most digs Boswell has posted over her last eight matchups.
Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Peru, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-10 record this season.
Marion suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Peru in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Tigers' Bailee Kintner, who had eight aces and five digs. Now that the Giants know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
