The Millburn Millers have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 60-34 walloping at the hands of Newark Collegiate Academy on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Millburn in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Millers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Wolk, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Santi Carrera fern?ndez, who scored eight points.
Millburn struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Millburn's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Newark Collegiate Academy, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Millburn will square off against the Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Belleville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Newark Collegiate Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Mounties at 4:00 p.m. Montclair will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Panthers are ranked 30th).
