Basketball Recap: Joshua Poole Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

The matchup between Young Americans Christian and Covington Academy on Friday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Young Americans Christian Eagles enjoyed a cozy 65-50 win over the Covington Academy Bulldogs. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Young Americans Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joshua Poole, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 19 boards. With that strong performance, Poole is now averaging an impressive 9.5 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Damian Crawford, who went 10 of 21 on his way to 24 points and three steals.

Young Americans Christian pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Covington Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Young Americans Christian will host Dominion Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Young Americans Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Dominion Christian likes a good challenge. As for Covington Academy, they will welcome Providence Classical Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Covington Academy is facing Providence Classical Christian at the right time seeing as Providence Classical Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
