California extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 11-6. They fell 12-7 to the Fort Cherry Rangers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rangers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 on Monday.
California saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Shemansky, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that Shemansky has hit this season.
As for Fort Cherry, the win keeps them at an undefeated 15-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average this season.
On Fort Cherry's side, Ryan Huey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Huey has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Colton Temple was excellent, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5. Landon Trnavsky was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
California didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Brownsville on the 30th. As for Fort Cherry, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-6 victory against Burgettstown on the 4th.
