Fleming lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brooke Schaefer, who went 5 for 9 en route to 13 points and four steals. Schaefer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last four games she's played. Hayley Chamberlain was another key player, putting up 11 points.
Akron found their leader in freshman Molly O'Neil, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, O'Neil is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Kashlee Randel also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.
Fleming's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-2. As for Akron, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Fleming wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 70-22 win against Peetz on the 24th. Akron has also already played their next contest, a 55-33 victory against Holyoke on the 24th.
