It was a good run, but the Dunbar Crimson Tide unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Monday. The match between Dunbar and McKinley Tech wasn't particularly close, with Dunbar falling 68-53. Dunbar has not had much luck with McKinley Tech recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Dunbar lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Gregory Lomax, who scored 21 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lomax has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Phillip Crowell, who scored nine points along with two steals.
McKinley Tech got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was DaMontae Neclos out in front who scored 19 points along with three steals. Marcus Dunbar was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Dunbar's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7. As for McKinley Tech, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dunbar on the road again on Wednesday and play against Roosevelt at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. Roosevelt will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for McKinley Tech, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Anselm's Abbey at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Anselm's Abbey will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps District of Columbia Rankings (they are ranked 254th, while McKinley Tech is ranked 11th).
