The Jackson Aggies waltzed into their game on Wednesday with 14 straight wins but they left with 15. They took down Escambia County 58-40. That's another feather in the cap for Jackson, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Jackson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Micah Caster out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Caster pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Landon Duckworth, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Escambia County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Stephen Williams. Despite the final result, he scored eight points along with 15 rebounds and four blocks. Williams is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 12 games he's played. Cleo Bolar jr. was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Jackson pushed their record up to 25-2 with that victory, which was their 27th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Escambia County, their loss dropped their record down to 15-9.
Jackson will stay at home for another game and welcome Booker T. Washington at 6:00 p.m. on February 10th. Booker T. Washington will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Jackson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Escambia County, they will head out on the road to face off against Bullock County on Saturday. Escambia County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
