The El Toro Chargers will challenge the Beckman Patriots at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. El Toro is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
While El Toro's victory against Trabuco Hills wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chargers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over the Mustangs on Thursday.
Madison Huff was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Kaelyn Perez, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Huff wasn't the only one making solid contact: El Toro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for the Chargers: they were averaging 5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.2.
Meanwhile, Beckman made easy work of Bishop Gorman on Friday and carried off a 7-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Jess Peralta spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alexa Robledo, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Park, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Beckman is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for El Toro, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9.
Everything went El Toro's way against Beckman when the teams last played back in February of 2023, as El Toro made off with an 11-4 win. Do the Chargers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
