The Timpview Thunderbirds waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 56-46 victory over Spanish Fork. Given Timpview's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Spanish Fork is ranked 63rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Timpview got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lina Ballin out in front who scored 21 points along with six assists and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Ballin has scored at least a third of Timpview's points. Livia Eyre was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.
Timpview is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Spanish Fork, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Timpview will challenge Cedar Valley at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Spanish Fork, they will head out on the road to take on Maple Mountain at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
