The Anderson Indians will challenge the Kokomo Wildkats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Anderson has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Kokomo will arrive with four straight wins.
Anderson managed to slip by Shenandoah the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Indians lost 11-4 to the Raiders on Monday. Surprisingly, this marked the Indians' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Anderson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was KeAvon Burt, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Kokomo not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23rd (when they won 15-4). Everything went their way against Marion as they made off with a 12-2 victory.
Brighton Harris looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Cameron Parks and J.J. Gillespie did most of the damage at the plate: Parks earned three runs and three stolen bases, while Gillespie went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave Gillespie a new career-high.
Kokomo pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.1 runs over those games. As for Anderson, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Anderson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Kokomo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Anderson came up short against Kokomo in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, falling 11-7. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
