Basketball Recap: Katalin Jenkins Key Part of a Team Effort in Owls Win

FAU High lost to Sheridan Hills Christian back in December of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The FAU High Owls skirted past the Sheridan Hills Christian Sharks 29-26. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Owls have posted since January 8, 2024.

FAU High's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Katalin Jenkins, who posted four points in addition to six boards and three steals. The dominant performance gave Jenkins a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Ellen Vance, who put up eight points.

FAU High smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Sheridan Hills Christian had strong showings from Reice Saintil, who had ten points in addition to three steals and three blocks, and Courtney Saintil, who posted nine points. Reice is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Spee, who had no points and 11 rebounds.

FAU High's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Sheridan Hills Christian, they moved to 5-2 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

FAU High will host Inlet Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sheridan Hills Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Donna Klein Jewish Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sheridan Hills Christian's defense has only allowed 21.6 points per game this season, so Donna Klein Jewish Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.
