It was a good run, but the Chilton County Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to Marbury 46-41. Chilton County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Marbury apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2023.
Chilton County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyeshia Williams, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and six assists. Williams is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ishunti Brown, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Marbury's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addyson Jarman, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Jarman scored 15 or more points. Gabrielle Brown was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Chilton County's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-9. As for Marbury, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chilton County will square off against Benjamin Russell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Benjamin Russell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 294th, while Chilton County is ranked 121st). Marbury will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Autaugaville at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. Autaugaville is on a three-game streak of home wins, Marbury a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
