Strongsville is 2-8 against Brunswick since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Strongsville will bounce into Tuesday's matchup after beating Medina, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mustangs came out on top against the Battling Bees by a score of 8-3 on Monday.
Addison Heidenhoffer was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Hartman, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. Kaylen Clough also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Brunswick ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against Medina by a score of 7-5 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Battling Bees recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Brunswick also got a great performance from Gabby Diligente as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched.
At the plate, Ava Williams and Ava Beas did most of the damage at the plate: Williams went 3-for-5 with three RBI, while Beas went 3-for-5 with three runs. Those three hits gave Williams a new career-high. Delainey Andolek was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Brunswick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Strongsville's record now sits at 5-6. As for Brunswick, their record is now 8-3.
Strongsville suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Brunswick when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
