The East Central Cardinals were the 32-30 winner over the Bishop Kelley Comets when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. East Central fell 41-33 to Bishop Kelley on Thursday.
Anne Blankenship was her usual excellent self, scoring eight points along with seven assists and six rebounds for Bishop Kelley. Blankenship has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Allie Strandmark, who scored 11 points.
East Central's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Bishop Kelley, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Central will take on Pryor at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pryor is coming into the game with five straight defeats on the road, meaning East Central will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Bishop Kelley, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Grove at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Bishop Kelley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
