The Akron Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Akron has four straight victories, the Fighting Irish have three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Wednesday, Akron earned a 55-48 win over the Mustangs. Given Akron's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Mustangs are ranked 624th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame came up short against the Trojans on Thursday and fell 62-54.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Chase Antinore, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Antinore, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Akron has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Notre Dame, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-4.
