Telfair County found their leader in underclassman Trynitee Newson, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Newson is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for five games straight. Another player making a difference was London Johnson, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Wheeler County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nikita James, who scored 26 points along with nine rebounds and five steals, and Shiann Carey who scored ten points. That was a full 60.5% of Wheeler County's points, marking the 15th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Telfair County's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Wheeler County, their defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-15.
Telfair County will take on Montgomery County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wheeler County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bryan County at 6:00 p.m. Bryan County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wheeler County in Georgia (Bryan County is ranked 97th, while Wheeler County is ranked 490th).
