Last Saturday, Osmond/Randolph lost to Hartington-Newcastle at home by a decisive 46-27 margin. That's two games in a row now that Osmond/Randolph has lost by exactly 19 points.
Osmond/Randolph's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Anabelle Vinson, who scored ten points, and Sophie Gansebom who scored eight points along with six rebounds. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her.
Osmond/Randolph struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Elkhorn Valley strolled past Plainview with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 46-27. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Elkhorn Valley.
Elkhorn Valley can attribute much of their success to Karlee Broberg, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and JJ Black, who scored 15 points along with seven blocks and five rebounds. Those four steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Cameron Rutjens, who scored four points along with three steals.
Osmond/Randolph bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Elkhorn Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Osmond/Randolph have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 30.3 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Elkhorn Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 33.3 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Osmond/Randolph was dealt a bruising 57-29 defeat at the hands of Elkhorn Valley in their previous meeting back in January. Can Osmond/Randolph avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
