Basketball Recap: Ryder Stern's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Leroy-Ostrander over Spring Grove

It was a proper cat-fight when LeRoy-Ostrander duked it out withSpring Grove on Thursday. The LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals received a blow as they fell 68-50 to the Spring Grove Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 78-42 back in December of 2024.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ryder Stern, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most points Stern has posted since back in February of 2024. Reid Hungerholt was another key player, putting up 17 points and three steals.

LeRoy-Ostrander has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Spring Grove, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-11 record this season.

LeRoy-Ostrander wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 74-68 victory against Kingsland on the 24th. As for Spring Grove, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-42 defeat against Southland on the 24th.
