Chester is 0-10 against Burney since May of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Volcanoes will look to defend their home field against the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Chester took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Redding Christian a 16-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Volcanoes as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Brianna Dean was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Chester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Burney waltzed into their match on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They blew past the Lynx 11-1.
Aaliyah Perez was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Alyssa Hawkins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Burney's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Chester, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
Chester couldn't quite get it done against Burney in their previous meeting on April 3rd as they fell 5-0. Will the Volcanoes have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
