The Mohave Accelerated Patriots are taking a road trip to take on the Glendale Prep Academy Griffins at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Glendale Prep Academy will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Mohave Accelerated extended their winning streak to nine on Monday. The Patriots put the hurt on Mesquite with a sharp 20-3 win.
Kennedy Lamb made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tanner Banks, who fired off two home runs, five runs, and six RBI while going 4-for-4. Megan Jones also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Mohave Accelerated kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 18 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Glendale Prep Academy got the win against St. John Paul II Catholic on Tuesday by a conclusive 16-2. Winning may never get old, but the Griffins sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Like Mohave Accelerated, Glendale Prep Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Rachel Rockey. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Rockey was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Glendale Prep Academy got a massive performance out of Sophia Nakachi, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Raegan Rockey, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Mohave Accelerated pushed their record up to 20-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Glendale Prep Academy, their record now sits at 9-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Mohave Accelerated hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.8 home runs per game. However, it's not like Glendale Prep Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
