Softball Game Preview: Santana Sultans vs. Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots

The Santana Sultans will square off against the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Santana's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Academy of Our Lady of Peace's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Santana barely beat Rancho Bernardo the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Santana was the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Rancho Bernardo on Wednesday.

Ashlyn Darrow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Emma Schneider was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Lindahl, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Santana was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Academy of Our Lady of Peace fell victim to Rancho Bernardo and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 10-0 to the Broncos. The Pilots just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Santana's record now sits at 5-3. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Santana suffered a grim 14-0 defeat to Academy of Our Lady of Peace in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can Santana avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
